CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER

SCRIPTURE READING:

Matthew 10: 32-33; 37-39  |  Ephesians 3: 20   NKJV

32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.  Matthew 10: 32-33; 37-39   NKJV

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.  Ephesians 3: 20   NKJV

SERMON:

Life | Risk | Change

*There are forces in our world today that are hell bent on destroying you.
*Satan roams about seeking to kill, steal and destroy, and many men and women have aligned themselves with his plans and purposes.
*Dangers and risks lurk all around us.  And no matter how hard we try to protect ourselves, we can be overtaken.
*Our faith is a source for hope to those of us who believe in Jesus Christ.
*If our life and vision is for anything else but a close relationship with Jesus, we have set up idols in our life.
*To take up our cross is to make everything that we value or treasure subservient to following Christ.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.  Proverbs 3: 5, 6   NKJV
*6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,

with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4: 6, 7   NKJV

*Holy Spirit is telling you and I to bring our requests to God!!  HE SAYS TO BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING!
*another part to that Philippians 4 passage:

the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The New American Standard Bible translates that as:

the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension,

*The Holy Spirit is telling us to bring our requests to God, AND His peace & answer will come to you in a way that you could not have dreamed of; you could not have expected or imagined.
*20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.  Ephesians 3: 20   NKJV
*Here is the really ‘kick-in-the-backside’ part of all this:

10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,

That there may be food in My house,

And try Me now in this,”

Says the Lord of hosts,

“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven

And pour out for you such blessing

That there will not be room enough to receive it.  Malachi 3: 10   NKJV

*It is an ‘I DARE YOU’ challenge.
*Despite the many generations of sin and rebellion, God will remain faithful to His people.   Though they have been unfaithful to Him, God will remain faithful to them.
*He says, ‘Try me and see for yourselves that I will pour out a blessing on you that will be beyond what you can imagine…’
*Even Jesus said it in Matthew 7:

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  Matthew 7: 7   NKJV

*You don’t get if you don’t ask.
*Do you have a trial or a fear in your life?  Name it before the Lord and be done with it.  Whatever it may be, God has it entirely in hand.
*Though we live in dangerous times, You and I who believe in Jesus have NO reason to fear whatever it is that may confront us.
*Keep your eyes on Jesus and look to eternity.

46 God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear,

Even though the earth be removed,

And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Psalm 46: 1-3; 10, 11   NKJV

*This is a time for our faith to become real!  Trust Him.  Hear Him!
