CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER

SCRIPTURE READING:

Deuteronomy 30: 15 – 20  |  Proverbs 16: 25  |  Jude 3-4   NKJV

15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”  Deuteronomy 30: 15 – 20   NKJV

25 There is a way that seems right to a man,

But its end is the way of death.  Proverbs 16: 25   NKJV

3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.  Jude 3-4   NKJV

SERMON:

The Sanctity of Life

*The central theme of this message is about the choices we make, good or bad that reflect what we believe, and the truth of God.
*There are issues, worldly issues that will confront us throughout our lifetimes, issues that we may face personally, and issues that we face as a nation and culture.  Are we going to choose to stand on the truth of God or give in to those of society?
*God’s truth stands completely transcendent, above all in authority, to any and all other issues we face in our lives.  There is no higher authority we can turn to but God.
*God is a moral God!  In His Word, He has given us clear commands we are to follow and to proclaim.  God does not change.  His truths He gave in the beginning are the same truths you and I must live by today.
*3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.  Jude 3-4   NKJV
*we need to contend earnestly for our faith, the truth of God in Christ Jesus.
*      Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;

I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1: 4, 5   NKJV

*He, the Lord, formed us in the womb; He knew us even before we

were born and He sanctified us from the moment we were conceived!

To be sanctified means to be set apart for God’s purposes, to be Holy for His name!

*26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”  Genesis 1: 26-28   NKJV

*man and woman were created in God’s own image: to reason, to communicate, to love, to bear one another’s burdens, to have a close relationship with our creator.

*139 O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

2 You know my sitting down and my rising up;

You understand my thought afar off.

3 You comprehend my path and my lying down,

And are acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word on my tongue,

But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

5 You have hedged me behind and before,

And laid Your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

It is high, I cannot attain it.  Psalm 139: 1-6   NKJV

*It is called love!  God knows our inner most being, and He loves us.

*He loves and enters in when we repent and humble ourselves before Him!  It is so important to Him that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, for us!

*15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.  Deuteronomy 30: 15   NKJV

*God is telling His people to choose life!  Do you want a blessing over this land, or do you want a curse?  If you want to prosper, to have good health and life, choose life!

*13 For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.  Psalm 139; 13, 14   NKJV

 *From the very moment of conception, we play a significant role in the whole plan of God.  From the very beginning, God is creating a whole new life of someone who can Praise and bring glory to His name.

*18 He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the

stranger, giving him food and clothing. Deuteronomy 10: 18   NKJV

*27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.  James 1: 27   NKJV

*God’s heart is for the fatherless, widow and stranger.  So much so, that Jesus gives us a fearsome warning in Matthew 18.  Listen carefully to His Words:

Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it

would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!  Matthew 18: 5-7   NKJV

*God loves to show Himself faithful to us!

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his

parents, that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.  John 9: 1-7   NKJV

*When we treasure life, we treasure the life giver, our Lord!
