SCRIPTURE READING:       

2^nd Corinthians 6: 14-18  |  Proverbs 16: 25  |  James 1: 5-8   NKJV

14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will dwell in them

And walk among them.

I will be their God,

And they shall be My people.”

17 Therefore

“Come out from among them

And be separate, says the Lord.

Do not touch what is unclean,

And I will receive you.”

18 “I will be a Father to you,

And you shall be My sons and daughters,

Says the Lord Almighty.”  2^nd Corinthians 6: 14-18   NKJV    139

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.  James 1: 5-8   NKJV                                                          

SERMON:

What Communion Has Light with Darkness?

*We have to be extremely careful today who we listen to and who we believe.  It is why I have often encouraged you to spend time in the Bible and with God, asking Him for His truth and wisdom and understanding.  We have to know the heart of God for our culture today.

*“What part has a believer with an unbeliever?”  This truth should stand front and center to any and all relationships we form throughout our lives. 

*"What agreement or communion has light with darkness?"  For many of us, we live our lives hedging our bets, picking and choosing what we think is right.

*Hedging your bets does not help your cause.  All we have to do is look at the life of King Solomon to see the destruction and judgement that came to him in his dying days.  His many wives turned his heart away from the true and living God!

*Jesus Himself addresses this critical issue for us in Matthew 7:

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  Matthew 7: 13-18   NKJV

*The broad gate is the gate that says ‘anything goes.’  Many people think there are many ways to heaven.  But Jesus says it is the narrow gate that leads to life, and few find it! 

*Jesus made it clear that there would be false prophets who come in sheep’s clothing ready to devour and kill us, who do NOT hold fast to God’s truths.

*You can dress up a wolf in a tuxedo, but it is still a wolf.  Satan is a master of disguise and he is intent on lying to you and stealing your faith in Christ.  He wants you dead!  Dead in your faith!  Dead in your life!

*      For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what                  communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ                with Belial?  2^nd Corinthians 6: 14, 15   NKJV

*Can a lawless person be righteous?  He may proclaim his cause is righteous, but if it is not of God, it can never be righteous.  Light exposes that which is dark and sinister.  That which is done in the dark, in the shadows is done with sinister intent.  Light exposes its true nature.

*Can Christ and Belial be in agreement?  NO!  Christ is of God and is God!  Belial’s entire existence is to corrupt everything of God, to destroy & crush it.  

*If you don’t stand for truth, You’ll fall for anything.

*Are you changing the world?  Or is the world changing you?

*As Christians, we alone have a world changing message that unites the races and nations, brings peace and joy to those who walk in it, and is founded entirely on the love of Jesus Christ!

*But the world hates Jesus and those who follow Him.  

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”  Genesis 3: 4, 5   NKJV

In Psalm 16, David writes of those who seek other ways, other gods:

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;

Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,

Nor take up their names on my lips.  Psalm 16: 4   NKJV

*There is no life or truth found apart from God in Jesus Christ!  You can look for it in all other directions, but it is not there.  You can join yourself to a multitude of gods, but salvation and eternal life is only found in Jesus!

‘What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

*God does not share His glory with any one!

*As Christians, we vote for the issues, not the person.  There will never be a President who will live a completely stellar and sinless life.  He or she will be sinners, like the rest of us.  But we need to know and vote for the issues they stand for.
